Blackout again as hoodlums vandalise U/Boro Transformer in Kaduna

by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

There has been a total blackout in parts of U/Boro area of Kaduna State as hoodlums reportedly vandalized Bajju Street transformer Monday night.

Neighborhood eyewitness accounts said the main intention of the vandals, who invaded the area in the night, was targeted at stealing the transformer itself.

Sources said luck ran out of them when power was suddenly restored after most electric cables into the transformer were successfully cutout, making it impossible for the suspects to complete their mission.

Some Kaduna Electric unit company staffs confirmed the incident, but said the vandals grounded and bridged high tension cable to prevent supply before they commenced their operations.

A woman source and resident of the area told our reporter, who was there on spot checks, that they contributed money to buy some cables 3 months ago when a similar incident occurred.

The affected consumers are appealing to Kaduna Electric Company to be proactive in its intervention towards restoring power supply in the area.
