JOS – Newly-appointed Commissioner of Information and Communications, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, has taken over the mantle of leadership in the ministry with the promise to bring his vigour, vitality and energy to take the Ministry of Information and Communications to greater heights.
Speaking during the handing-over ceremony of the ministry at the Joseph Gomwalk Secretariat, Jos, on Wednesday, Hon Musa Ashoms stated that, “Governor Caleb Mutfwang is a ‘goal-getter’ and a man that loves Plateau State, and is also passionate about the development and goals of the state.”
He explained that, the governor has tasked them with the mandate of moving the state forward, and so as a lieutenant, he is going to support the government a hundred per cent and will rally round him because, according to him, “the governor cannot do it alone and neither can we.”
He stressed that, it is his earnest desire to be on record as someone that brought energy and the needed change, adding that, “Not the change that will bring setback to the Ministry but the one that will lift it up.”
He assured that, he is very hopeful that in no distant time, the government is going to achieve success across the board – to bring succor to the farmers whose farmlands were destroyed by assailants because they want the people to remain in abject poverty.
Hon Ashoms noted that, the governor has initiated a process of about nine thousand hectors of farms whereby farms are being tilled for the people to plant some seasonal and perennial crops, adding that the governor has assigned ASTC to go into the Local Governments that have suffered attacks recently.
The Commissioner further noted that, government will be engaging with the people and they will be informed about the various activities of the government so that, at any time that government derails, people should not hesitate to criticize the government constructively.
Hon. Ashoms stated that, this will be under his watch as Commissioner of Information and Communications, and solicited the cooperation of the workers of the ministry and synergy between other parastatals under the ministry, and assured them of his cooperation to enable them move the State forward.
