New GOC for 3 Division assumes duty in Plateau

The new GOC of the 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment and Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major-General AE Abubakar, as the 48th General Officer Commanding 3 Division and 17th Commander OPSH, has assumed duty.

It was a colourful ceremony at the Headquarters 3 Division Maxwell Khobe Cantonment and the Headquarters Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) Jos, Plateau State, when Major-General Abdulsalami Bagudu Ibrahim handed over the mantle of leadership of 3 Division and Joint Task Force Operation (OPSH) to Major-General AE  Abubakar as the 48th GOC and the 17th Commander of OPSH.

While addressing the troops, the outgone GOC and Commander OPSH, General Abdulsalami Bagudu, stated that, posting in the military is a norm, and charged the troops to ensure they discharge their responsibilities to the best of their ability as required of the profession.

He commended the professional conduct of personnel during the general election and urged them to maintain the standard of regimentation, professionalism and loyalty to the constituted authority. 

General Abdulsalami Bagudu further cautioned the troops to ensure that facilities under their use are well maintained, adding that, the lots of infrastructural developments witnessed during his leadership will serve the troops better when properly maintained, and thanked all for the roles played to achieve the landmark development in 3 Division and OPSH.  

 While the new GOC and Commander OPSH, Major-General AE Abubakar    appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Major-General TA Lagbaja, for giving him the opportunity to serve in dual capacity as GOC 3 Division and Commander OPSH, he appreciated the outgone GOC and Commander OPSH for the success and the good  reputation brought to the division. 

The GOC observed that, the command has made remarkable achievements and promised to build on the successes recorded.

General AE Abubakar urged his subordinates to be good followers as he leads by example, and unveiled his vision for 3 Division to include, “Readiness, Synergy and Excellence,” which is in tandem with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy…; to transform the nigerian army into a well trained, equipped and highly-motivated Force towards achieving our constitutional responsibilities in a joint environment.” 

He further urged the troops to remain committed, resolute, resilient and focused in protection the lives and property of the citizens.

While assuring his readiness to leverage on capacity development of troops, equipment and team work to face and defeat the enemies of peace, he further assured of his commitment to work with the sister agencies, stakeholders, government and traditional institutions to achieve success.

According to him, he believes in the collective abilities of all and united efforts to succeed, and paid special tribute to the outgoing GOC, and affirmed that General Abdulsalami Bagudu displayed exceptional sterling leadership by paying special in the welfare of troops and their family.  

Our correspondent observed that, highlight of the ceremony include address to troops, signing of Handing and Taking Over notes and Quarter Guard Ceremonies.
