Humanitarian Crisis: Bandits’ ravaged Southern Kaduna community begs for support, donations

Fulani herdsmen terrorism ravaged Southern Kaduna community members have appealed for freewill donations to ameliorate the sufferings of the large number of the people affected, especially children, during a recent incident.

The statement of appeal, contained in social media posted on Saturday, stressed that the indigent members of Sankwab Runji Village in Zangon Kataf LGA, (resident in Kaduna City) noted that attack by Fulani militias last Saturday left 33 people dead and 42 houses, including foodstuffs and other valuables all burnt to ashes. 

The coordinator and member of the community, who lost eight relations in the attack at a blow, noted that the appeal has become imperative “In view of the humanitarian crisis arising from what happened.”

The statement is titled: ‘Appeal for donation.’ “Good day brothers and sisters. As you all might have heard, my village (Sankwaglb Runji) in Zangon Kataf LGA was attacked by Fulani militias last Saturday, leaving 33 people dead and 42 houses burnt; foodstuffs and other valuables all burnt to ashes.

“I personally lost 8 relations in the incident. In view of the humanitarian crisis arising from what happened, we, the members of that community in Kaduna are appealing for freewill DONATIONS, especially children’s/adults’ wears, beddings and whatever might assist the situation of the people. Anyone with such support can reach out to me on 08020968389. God bless you all,” the appealed.

Recalled that gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders reportedly attacked Sankwab community of Zangon Kataf LGA of Kaduna State, killing not less than 20 people and injuring several others last Saturday.

Reliable sources from the area told journalists that the invaders stormed the community some few minutes, around 10pm and started shooting sporadically, killing and burning of houses, while the occupants scampered for safety.

Sources also alleged that a few of the local guards keeping vigil were able to engage the invaders, which lasted until the swift intervention of military operatives arrived and repelled the attacks.
