The Governor-elect of the PDP in Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has called on his brothers, who flew the flags of their parties, “to come and let them walk and work together to salvage the Plateau that we all love.”
According to Caleb Mutfwang, the trust given to him is not going to be taken for granted, saying, “because of the enormity of the task ahead is not lost on me, knowing that God Almighty supplies grace for every given assignment,” and assured his confidants that they shall not come short of their expectations.
He was speaking shortly after declaring him winner, while addressing his supporters, PDP members and the citizens of the state, on Monday in Jos.
“I, therefore, humbly accept this responsibility because the time to rescue Plateau is now! And as we begin the transition process, I want to assure all Plateau citizens that I will be Governor of all. I intend to set up an inclusive administration with a clear vision of developing the entire state and, by God’s grace, we shall be fair and just in all our dealings.
He, therefore, called on all and sundry to rise up together as a united people to confront the challenges ahead, adding, “Though, the giants of insecurity, debt, mistrust, among others, are on our way to hinder, God will surely give us victory through unity and determination.”
He said, “The election process, which began several months ago, ended with the State Returning Officer, Idris Amali, pronouncing me as the Governor-elect of our blessed state.”
He appreciate the Almighty God for keeping him alive and healthy and for giving him this privilege to serve the people for his own purpose and have confidence reposed in him and sincerely thanked all those who believed in him and mobilised support, prayers and voted for him.
He noted that, some of the people he may never know personally – but Heaven bears witness of the sacrifices they made; and the Lord God Almighty rewards them abundantly.
He acknowledged those heroes of democracy, “who paid the supreme price out there to see change in our dear State. By God’s grace, they will never be forgotten.”
He also appreciated religious, traditional and community leaders for the love of Plateau they exhibited, the INEC leadership and staff on the Plateau who lived up to expectations, and the security agencies in the state also, who contributed immensely to providing an even-playing field for the contest.
While appreciating the leaders and members of his beloved party, the PDP, for sinking their differences and working together for this ultimate victory, Caleb Mutfwang thanked them all for demonstrating their love for the State by defying all the obstacles placed on their path to this momentous victory.
