Kaduna North, South agog as LP guber campaign train storms areas in style

…Stresses importance of voting LP.

by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The governorship campaign train of Hon. Jonathan Asake and Bashir Aliyu of Labour Party (LP), on weekend, landed in Kaduna North and South local governments’ areas to engage the electorates on the importance of voting the LP, come February 25th and March 11.

The campaign rally and tour – which was like a carnival of sort – took the two LGAs by storm. For the first time, the electorates saw a different style of campaign that penetrated the nooks and crannies of communities, coming directly in contact with the people, instead of the “old-school,” stadium-style rallies.

The town was agog with the campaign carnival, which took-off from Barnawa through Ahmadu Bello Way to Kawo, Ungwan Dosa, Malali and Ungwan Rimi, then Kigo New Extension to Sarduana Crescent.

“It then headed towards Tudun Nupawa and drove round Tudun Wada to Kurmin Mashi, Badiko, Kabala West, Ungwan Mu’azu and through the western bypass to Kakuri.

According to a statement by James Swam, who is Media Aide to LP Governorship Candidate, Hon. Jonathan Asake, on Monday, “It was an 8-hour, non-stop campaign drive that attracted many supporters, who unilaterally joined and keyed into it, dancing irresistibly to the rhythm of the LP music that rented the air.

“Both young and old, women and children, persons with disability, students, artisans, commercial drivers, civil servants, businessmen/women, professionals, amongst others, who witnessed the campaign carnival, expressed confidence in the LP as the only one that can salvage Kaduna and Nigeria from economic stagnation.

“Indeed, there were positive responsorial songs of the crowd, shouting, ‘Sai Asake,’ ‘Sai Kun yi,’ ‘Sai Lebo,’ ‘Sai Obi” (in Hausa, among others), by different communities as the campaign train railed through with excitement, and explained to people why the electorates desire a change,” t stated.

Chairman of the Campaign Council-cum National Secretary of the LP, Alh. Umar Faruk Ibrahim, the DG, Hon. Tsahiru Bako, the state party chairman, Hon. Auwal Tafoki, the Guber candidate, Hon. Jonathan Asake and his running mate, Rt. Hon. Bashir Aliyu Zangon Aya, the senatorial candidate for Kaduna Central, Hon. M.S. Ibrahim, all graced the campaign rally/tour.

Others included the House of Assembly and House of Representatives candidates in the two LGAs, their local government party chairmen, wards chairmen, local government campaign coordinators, and various members of the campaign team as well as well-wishers.
