The Yobe State Government says, government has renovated and constructed additional structures in many schools to decongest students in classrooms, citing Arikime as a classical example.
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State disclosed this recently when he said, the good grades obtained by students in external examinations in the last two years has justified government investment in education.
Speaking in Damaturu, while receiving officials and members of the Progressive Young Women Forum, the governor noted that, although, the carnage in the sector was enormous, his government is determined to rejuvenate the sector.
He said, “The destruction of infrastructure by the insurgency was enormous and far beyond the coffers of the State Government, and that is why government organized an Education Trust Fund under a high-powered committee to assist in revitalizing the sector.”
He noted that, the state government embarked on training and retraining of teachers to enhance their skills for more productivity. And on healthcare sector, he assured that it would continue to receive government’s attention to provide accessible and affordable healthcare delivery to the people.
“One area that is receiving government attention is wealth creation and economic empowerment, which covers both males and females.
“Government is currently working on a programme of massive intervention to provide youth with employment opportunities,” he said, and assured the forum of government’s support and patronage to help them grow.
Speaking also, Chairperson of the Forum, Hajiya Saratu Sabo, commended the governor for his commitment to the development of the state, and lauded the administration for the construction of the largest Maternal and Child Healthcare Complex in Nigeria, adding that, “this would check the menace of maternal and child mortality in the state.”
