About nine (9) suspects have been paraded by the Plateau State Police Command, for various criminal offices.
While briefing newsmen in Jos on Friday, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew N. Onyeka, said the command has recorded some operational-driven successes in the arrest of criminal elements that are bent on making the job of policing on the Plateau difficult, and noted that some law abiding residents of the state experience pain and anguish.
He said the arrest led to the recovery of arms, ammunition and other unlawful implements that aid the culprits in their unlawful trade.
According to him, the suspects arrested include: Armed Robbery suspect one Yakubu Samuel, alias retired, aged 18 years of Angwan Rimi, Rukuba Road Jos, who has been terrorizing his community with his gang members now at large.
Others were: Culpable Homicide, Criminal Conspiracy and theft of Tricycle, suspected cultists/Armed Robbers recovery of firearm, unlawful possession of firearms, and recovery of stolen vehicles.
The CP said, on the case of Culpable Homicide, one Aji Sani reported at the Station that on the 8th August, 2022, that his sister, Habiba Suleiman, called and informed him that, one Lukman Suleiman fought with her son, Nazif Ridwan (deceased) all of the same address, hit her son severally with a piece of wooden plank on his head, while the son was rushed to the hospital where he later died.
And another was on the 18th July, 2022, one Mohammed Sa’ad, Putkun Kururuwa area, Pankshin, reported at the station that his cousin brother, one Benedict Lawrence, 30 years, of Kangvel Pankshin Loca Governtment Areas has a misunderstanding over money with Nanyitwe Emmanuel of layout in Pankshin.
According to him, it was reported to the station that said Nenyitwe Emmanuel stabbed Benedict with a knife on his chest and buttocks where he sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Pankshin General Hospital for medical attention, and he later died.
He said, on 8th of July, 2022, information was received by ‘C’ Division, leading to the arrest of one Kamalu Usman of Dodo Street, Jos, in possession of one Bajaj Tricycle with Chassis No. MD2A25BX6MWL72106 and Engine No. A2XWM148967 where he confessed to the crime that he was on an errand for one Babangida Yusuf, aka July, of Zololo Junction Jos, who gave him the Tricycle and was later released to enable him produce Musa SP, but was rearrested in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, shop breaking and theft where he confessed to the crime and further revealed that the allegation of theft of Bajaj Tricycle was true.
The suspect further explained that, he and one Zaidu Abubakar, who is also at large, of Congo Russia of Nasarawa Gwong Jos, stole the said Bajaj Tricycle in Zaria, Kaduna State, which belonged to Capt. Adam Usman.
Others were case of Cultists, Armed Robbers, on 4th September, 2022: two suspects Arro cultists were arrested, Matthew Ayuba, 19 years old, of Alheri Jos, and Samuel Ngbede, 25 years old, Jenta Makeri Jos, while the duos that are on the wanted list of the Police were arrested at Kabong, Gada-biu, in an attempt to launch an attack on the community.
Also, on 22 August, 2022, Police Patrol Team attached to Kaduna Come Division recovered a Mercedes Benz car with Reg. No. AGL 846BF belonging to one Mr Summunti Ayuba Sani, stolen by unknown hoodlums in his compound at Abattior-Anglo Jos, while a J5 Peugeot Boxer with Reg. No. XB 432 MSA belonging to one Musa Alhaji Musa was recovered on the 25th August, 2022.
He said, one Ezekiel Sunday of Bassa local government area was arrested with an English-made Berretta Pistol, loaded with three live ammunition of 99mm caliber. On interrogation, the suspect disclosed that one Jonathan, which surname is unknown, a retired Air Force Officer gave him the pistol to repair and that he got the ammunition during a fight with bandits at Miango axis of Bassa.
On Criminal Conspiracy and Theft, one Mustapha Haruna of Yanshanu area, who was on the Police “Wanted List” in respect of reported case of a stolen Golf 4 vehicle, was arrested by ‘C’ Division was in possession of a Tricycle with Reg. No. KMC 05 VJX suspected to be stolen, while on interrogation, he confessed to have stolen it from where it was parked at Rigiyan Lemu, in Kano State, and mentioned one Safwan Husseini of Dustse Uku painter as his accomplice.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has called on all peace loving residents of the State to continue by giving the Command timely information, in order to nip crime in bud or arrest the criminal elements among them, and assured that the Command will do everything possible to reduce crime in the state to its barest minimum.
