Recent information from Kuje Minimum Correctional Centre jail break attack has revealed that the bandits arrived the scene around 9:00pm and met in the church (name withheld) nearer to the centre before the attacks.
Our correspondent, who visited the community, reported that the bandits allegedly tied down the legs and hands of the church night guard and spent donkey hours having meeting inside the church before they swung into action.
The army, according to locals, who spoke to our reporter in confidence, said “the victim night guard was even abandoned in church until the next day before the arrival of security.”
A local, who also pleaded anonymity, equally confirmed that the military guard told some of them about their “going on transfer from the center and, that, their other colleagues would be brought to secure the place.”
Our sources, who work in a two storey-building hotel nearer to the centre, however, expressed surprise that the soldiers, who told them they were going on ‘transfer’ from the centre a day before the incident, were the same people brought back immediately after the attack, the familiar ones among the soldiers revealed to them.
According to the hotel staff source, the local people scampered in different directions for safety, the very night the attack took place, as hotel staff also put off all electric bulbs within and outside the hotel, based on advice, for fear of attack because of its proximity to the prison.
