by Christiana Gokyo, Jos

About eighteen passengers in an 18-seater bus have been burnt beyond recognition at the early hours of Sunday, in an auto crash in Gidan Kwano, along Minna-Bida in Bosso local government area of Niger State.

It was gathered that, the bus was said to have been coming from Lagos with the destination yet to be known, but learned that it may have been on its way to either Kano or Sokoto State.

Conscience Triumph further gathered that, the accident occurred at about 3am on Sunday morning, when the bus ran into a 10-tyre truck parked on the road before becoming engulfed with fire.

This was because most people were still asleep, and no one was readily awake to render help until 5am when people started gathering.

Meanwhile, the Niger State Police Command has confirmed the incident through its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abiodun Wasiu, indicating that the victims were given a mass burial close to the scene of the incident.

According to him, the plate number of the bus was also burnt beyond recognition.
