…Distributes Trade Union forms.

The move by Governor Nasir El-Rufai-led administration to render Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) useless and be scrapped has again been intensified.
Membership of Trade Union forms has already been distributed widely to all sectors of state ministries, departments and agencies for interested civil servants to fill and append their signatures.
Inside the forms, there are various provisions and options for “Yes” or “No,” “A” or “B” for all categories of staffs to fill and choose whether to belong to NLC or not.
The forms, titled ‘Office of the Head of Service (HoS) of Kaduna State, General Hassan Usman Katsina House, State House Kawo, Kaduna,’ were obtained from a civil servant in confidence.
The sub-title of the forms is, ‘Membership of Trade Union Form; MDA, department, rank, grade level, Membership of Union: “Yes” or “No,” “A” or “B,” amongst others.
However, most of the civil servants investigated filled in “Yes” options of the membership forms, signifying that they want to remain with NLC, negating the whole essence of the exercise, aimed at rendering NLC useless in the state.
Civil servants are also expected to sign an Acceptance Statement, agreeing to continue to pay their monthly membership dues to the union as contained in the union constitution.
All efforts to further clarify the issue failed, as Information Ministry has been scrapped from the inception of the regime, and the Media Adviser to Governor El-Rufai, Muyiwa Adeleye, doesn’t pick calls and SMS from our reporter in the state.
Some civil servants from the state’s media organizations, who spoke to our reporter in confidence, however, disclosed that there is serious apathy and skeptism towards government moves and its intention behind the policy.
Recalled that, Governor El-Rufai administration, which is consistently at loggerheads with NLC, had queried the rationale for monthly dues deduction for the Union, alleging that money collected were not used as intended for the benefits of the staff.
Although, this initiative commenced earlier but was discontinued middle of the current government, for reasons yet to be ascertained.
