S/Kaduna Killings: “Miyetti Allah lied against Atyap youths” – Group alleges

by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Group, under the umbrella of ‘Southern Kaduna Middle-Belt Members,’ have described as blatant lie, of the alleged killings of Miyetti Allah Fulani members and burning their houses in Atyap community in southern part of Kaduna State, challenging them to show evidences.

Fulani herders group, under the umbrella of the ‘Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria’ (MACBAN), in a release Tuesday, alleged that it has lost over ten members, including a one-year old infant.

The Fulani group also alleged that 99 cattle belonging to its members were either been poisoned or missing.

Miyetti Allah group were reacting to earlier reports by Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA), on Monday, in Kaduna, alleging the killing of its people in their communities by Fulani terrorists, who enjoyed military cover, saying they grazed castle with AK-47 rifles freely.

The leadership of the Fulani, in a press release signed by Alhaji Haruna Tugga, claimed they were being massacred by the Atyap youths militia in Zangon-Kataf Local Government Area of the state, even as the Atyap community insisted that they were allegedly being killed by Fulani militia allegedly with backing of government, in their various counter allegations.

But reacting on Thursday, some group of Southern Kaduna Meddle-Belt Forum, in a statement expressed surprise at how “suspects could be accusing the victims of attacks and killings.

“The suspects accusing the victims! Please, you see this Wahala! The other week, a Fulani, who ‘claimed to be an indigene,’ and speaking in Kataf dialect, when being interviewed by a BBC Hausa Radio correspondent also claimed that the Fulanis are rather the victims!

“But the facts on the ground are, whose houses/villages and farms are being burnt and vandalized, and people being killed, including Churches destroyed? Or, do the Fulani in Southern Kaduna forests and captured lands own Churches?

“That is the plan: After each attack, they organize press releases and bandied some figures of some cattle ‘poisoned’ or ‘killed’ and on-and-on-and-on, etc! How insulting on our sensibilities!” they stated.

They further stated that “We want to see the dead bodies of the Fulanis and the dead cows – just like we displayed, not only the bodies of our dead, but their names and razed properties! LIARS!”

Chairman of the MACBAN, in a release in Kaduna recently, had stated that, in spite of peace efforts embarked upon by communities and the government, the killings of his members by the Atyap youths continued unabated.
