KADUNA: 7 killed in fresh terror attacks on 3 villages in Zangon-Kataf, houses burnt

by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Again, seven persons have been reportedly killed in the late hours of Tuesday in a fresh terrorists’ attack in three communities of Zangon-Kataf Local Government Area of southern parts of Kaduna State.

It could be recalled that, the Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA) had on Monday, during a press conference revealed that terrorist Fulani are protected by military and graze cattle with AK-47 rifles freely hanged on their bodies in their areas.

An eyewitness account (who pleaded anonymity), however, told journalists on Wednesday that the terrorists in a well-coordinated attack burned down many houses during the invasion.

According to the source, one person was also reportedly burnt in Zaman Dabo Village, while the remaining six were killed in Chibob and Sabon Kaura areas.

The eyewitness also said that the terrorists stormed the areas in large numbers, shooting sporadically, and destroying property worth millions of naira. “The terrorists also took advantage of the absence of military present in the early hours of today at a checkpoint between Ungwan Wakili and Abuyab to destroy the only bridge that linked the communities.”

It was also gathered that the soldiers manning the areas normally leave the checkpoint in the early hours to patrol the villages with a view to preventing possible attacks.

Recalled that Atyap communities in the Zangon Kataf have been complaining of being under constant severe attacks since last two years, with many property destroyed and lives lost, according to the association’s leaders in a press conference held last Monday.

The Police Public Relations Officer of Kaduna State Command, ASP Mohammed Jalinge, however, said that the State Command is still waiting for the report of the incident from its Kafanchan Area Command, when journalist contacted him; but he could not respond when our correspondent contacted him on Wednesday night.
