by Christians Gokyo, Jos

Plateau State Commissioner, who oversees the Ministry of Housing, Hon. Jerry Werr, has commended the contractors handling the Governor and Deputy Governors’ Lodge Kaduna, Ricko Global Services Limited, for a job well done.

Hon. Werr gave the commendation, while leading a high technical team of the Ministry on a visit to see the level of work done at the project site at Kaduna last Thursday.

He observed that, “On the whole, the job is fair; and I really commend the contractors for doing a good work and, to be sincere, he did well to come that far to this level.

“We have just gone round to see the level of work being done, and my personal observation is that the contractor has really done well, though, there are areas that are not well captured, which needed quick attention,” he noted.

He urged the contractor to do more on some few corrections, pointed out to him as observed, and asked the contractor to double up on the Deputy Governor’s Lodge, saying, there are lots of corrections to be effected, in order to get it rightly done.

Also, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr Alfred Datoel, and the Director of Building, Arch Solomon Jankanwa, both appreciated the contractor for the level of work done and charged him to do the needful where correction has been noted.

They also called on the Project Architect to ensure all the corrections pointed out are effected before the contractor finishes the rest of the renovation work, and thanked them for doing a good supervision at site.

Speaking earlier, the Project Architect of the Ministry of Housing, Arch. Jang Rim Gyang, said the project is a renovation of Governor and Deputy Governors’ Lodge, and the name of the contractor is Ricko Global Service Limited. Date of award of the contract is 29th June, 2021, and the date of possession is on 3rd August, 2021.

The work was expected to be completed by 19th November, 2021, and the total sum of the contract sum is N97,363,898.90.

In fact, the contractor started work without any mobilization or advance payment, but he used his money to raise a certificate of about N51,894,958.11 and has gone to 53.3% completion.

The CEO RICKO GLOBAL SERVICES LTD, Mr. Ishaya Daniel Lalu, said the contract was awarded on 29th June, 2021, and to be completed November, 2021; that, they assumed work on site on 3rd August, 2021, without any mobilization from government, but they have done as much – up to 53.3 percent completion – according to the contract specification.

According to him, as far as they are concerned, they have done their best, though, there are little corrections being observed, and the governor himself has visited the project, and commended the level of work so far.

While thanking God for the cordial relationship with the government and how they appreciated the work and promised to effect the necessary corrections, he noted earlier and pleaded with the government to pay the certificate raised to enable them complete the work as expected.
