2,000 Bauchi farmers to benefit from Crop Demonstration Packages

At least two thousand Bauchi State farmers have been selected to benefit from the state’s 2021 Crop Demonstration Packages.

While disclosing this during the flagging-off of the 2021 Crop Demonstration Packages, which the above number was selected to be the beneficiaries, State Governor, Alhaji Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, stated that, this is to enable the farmers to cultivate a quarter of the hectares to improve maize, rice, soybeans or millet.

The governor stressed that, “The local poultry upgrading, small ruminants breeding, livestock feed alternative using Napier Grass and three Crop seedlings programme is where farmers from the 20 local government areas of the state would benefit from one-to-five of the newly improved crop varieties.”

According to him, his administration has placed a premium on agric, not only as means of food production, but also for economic empowerment in the state.

He said, the Livestock Farmers would also benefit from the newly introduced napier-grass cutting, in addition to 20 communities billed to benefit from the local poultry upgrading using boiler cocks.

Governor Muhammad further explained that, 90 communities will benefit from the small ruminants breeding programme packages, which include seeds, fertilizer, herbicides, insecticides, boiler cocks and Napier Grass cutting, among others.

He assured all partners in agricultural development that, his doors are open for collaboration towards the betterment of working condition of farmers and, by extension, improvement of agricultural production in the state.

Also speaking at the event, the state programme manager on Agricultural Development, Alh Abubakar Jafaru Ilelah, said the initiative will continue to contribute to the advancement of agricultural sector by supporting farmers to modernize their farming activities.
