The Plateau State Sector Commander of FRSC Command Corps, Alphonsus Godwin, has announced that, the command will start general motoring public checks, and motorists flying the roads in Jos and its environs will have to brace-up to face the situation headlong.
He said the Command will carry out a Special Patrol, tagged: “Operation show your driver’s license” as from Monday, 5 July, to Sunday 11 July, 2021.
A statement to this effect was signed and issued to newsmen in Jos, on Sunday by the Public Education Officer, Route Commander (RC) Andrew Bala.
According to him, the possession of valid driver’s license by motorists remains a major requirement for driving on the road, and the absence of it constitutes grave traffic infraction and endangering to the lives of other road users.
“It is on this regards that the Command is embarking on the Special Patrol Operation to clampdown on erring motorists, in order to remove unlawful and quack drivers on our roads,” he noted.
RC Andrew Bala stressed that, the categories of drivers on the lookout include drivers with no valid licenses, drivers with expired licenses and drivers driving with temporary expired licenses.
“The Command wishes to appeal to motorists and the general public to cooperate with their personnel, while the operations lasts, as deviation will be met with the full wrath of the law.”
