Barely three weeks now after the attack in Dong Village of Jos North local government area and Kwi Village near Haipang Airport of Barkin Ladi local government council of the state that neutralized several lives of people, another attack occurred on Sunday night at Sabon Layi Kuru where 12 people were killed by the said ‘unknown gunmen.’
Investigation revealed that those killed are: Mr. Darap Ayuba Rap (aka Faa), Mr. Stephen Ayuba Rap (Younger brother to number Faa), Mr. Ibrahim Monday Dong (aka IBB), Mr. Feng Gyang Dalong, Mr. Davou Matthew, Mrs Naomi Samuel Mwankon, Miss Kaneng Dung, and Mr. Davou Pam.
Others include James Fom (aka Gang-Loh, Resident of Kuru from Rim), Mr. Gyang Juma, Mr. David Dalyop (Resident of Kuru from Rim) of Riyom local government, and Chigwuze Emmanuel Paul (Resident of Kuru, an Igbo man).
Those who sustain injur injuries include Miss Abigail Chuhwak.(from Wat Kuru), Mrs Kangyang John.(from Kushe Kuru),Mrs Joy Sallau.(Resident of Kuru from Lantang),Mrs. Grace Dachung (From Kushe kuru), and Mr. Simon Mwangwong Jama (Kushe).
The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the incident, saying it received a report that ten persons were shot dead in a drinking joint at Sabon Layi, Kuru, in Jos South LGA by yet-to-be identified gunmen, who drove in with a Hilux and shot sporadically.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ubah Gabriel Ogaba, confirmed this to Conscience Triumph in Jos this Monday, when he said that Personnel of the Command and the Military have been deployed to the affected area.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police has ordered an immediate investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing and to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.
It would be recalled that, last year, the State Governor made an emphatic statement that “The issue of ‘unknown gunmen’ is over in Plateau State.” And so, given this backdrop of hope, Conscience Triumph hopes that even these recent ones will be unmasked within the shortest possible time.
