Nigeria’s Aviation Union has said it will shut down Kaduna Airport from the midnight of Sunday, in compliance with the warning strike action declared in Kaduna by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), a letter to inform the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on their action has revealed.
In an official statement of notice of strike issued Saturday and jointly endorsed by the union’s scribes, it directed all its members at the Kaduna Airport to withdraw all services for the 7 days the strike is going to last.
The statement, signed by the Secretaries General of ANAP, Comrade Abdulrasaq Saidu, NAAPE, Comrade Umoh Ofonime and NUATE, Comrade Ocheme Aba,
Respectively, stated that, “In compliance with the industrial action declared in Kaduna by NLC and our unions as above, we shall proceed to effect the action from the midnight of Sunday, the 16th May, 2021, to midnight of Friday, the 21st of May, 2021.
“We are constrained to inform you that, in compliance with the industrial action declared in Kaduna by NLC and our unions as above, shall proceed to effect the action from the midnight of Sunday, the 16th May, 2021 to midnight of Friday, the 21st of May, 2021.
“The aviation unions, under the aegis of the ‘National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers’ (NAAPE), ‘National Union of Air Transport Employees’ (NUATE), ‘Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals’ (ANAP) in an official statement issued Saturday and jointly signed by the unions scribe says, the shutdown of the Kaduna Airport is in compliance with the strike action declared in Kaduna by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
“Accordingly, all workers at the Kaduna Airport have been directed to withdraw all services at the airport within the stipulated period. In effect, there will be no operations of any kind into, at or out of, the airport within the period,” the Unions directed.
