Tension has continued to build up in southern parts of Kaduna in Kaduna State as four Village Heads, their Secretaries and seven other sons of Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon-Kataf local government area of southern part of Kaduna State have spent 12 days (by Monday) in the police custody.
They are being held liable on account of alleged killers of Fulani cattle under their chiefdom.
Our correspondent reported that the victims are currently undergoing interrogation at the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Kaduna Town.
Local sources told journalists that, “On 31st of March, 2021, all the fifteen people were invited for a meeting by the military in Kafanchan, only to be detained for four days before being transferred to the Police Area Command in Kafanchan, in Southern Kaduna.
“On Friday, 9th of April, the case was reportedly transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Kaduna for continuation.”
When journalists visited Kabala Costain Police Station where the detainees are in police custody, the detainees complained of being kept under inhuman conditions for a crime they know nothing about.
According to them, they are expected to produce persons, who allegedly killed some cows in their communities, an allegation they said they know nothing about.
The detained traditional leaders include Mallam Ishaya Achi, Village Head of Angwar Wakili; Mallam Ayuba Dodo, Village Head of Makutsatin; Mallam Nuhu Bobai, Village Head of Mabuhu; and Joseph Bobai, Village Head of Wawa, respectively.
Contacted for further details, the Kaduna State Police command spokesman, Muhammad Jalige, could not respond till the time of filling these reports.
