Farmers in Gombe state have been trained on Agricultural Commodity Trading and Warehouse Management with a view to enhancing their market produce.
The farmers were trained by the Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCE) in collaboration with Sandstone Associate.
Speaking during the training, managing director of the organisation, Mrs. Zaheera Baba-Ari, who was represented by the manager operations, Mr. Benson O. Lawal, made this known in Gombe recently.
According to her, the aim of the training was to ensure that farmers across the state benefit in their businesses without hitches.
She emphasized that, while there is the need for farmers to be trained, effort were being put in place to ensure that the state government provides a warehouse for the storage of commodity that would boost agricultural produce.
According to her, the state, which is located at the center in the Northeast Zone, attracted NCE to key into such programme for other states in the region to benefit from.
While making a contribution on the gesture, the state Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Tourism, Hon. Nasiru M. Aliyu, assured of government’s commitment of providing 25 warehouses within the state to enhance farm produce used by farmers.
