Plateau state APC primaries, which held in Shendam on Thursday in by-election for the Southern Senatorial seat at the National Assembly, following the death of Senator Ignatius Longjang, has declared Prof Nora Daduut as the winner, who got total votes of 1,936 to defeat Prof Garaba, Prof Sheni and Damian Shekarau, respectively.
The results come out as follows: Professor Nora Daduut got 307 votes from Mikang, Wase 363, Langtang South 291, Langtang North 325, Quan-Pan 310 and Shendam 340, totaling 1,936.
Prof Garba got Mikang 0, Wase 1, Langtang South 3, Langtang North 24, Quan-Pan 32, and Shendam 0, with a total score votes of 60.
Also, Prof Sheni scored 1 vote from Mikang, Wase 1, Langtang South 6, Langtang North 53, Quan-Pan 0, and Shendam 0, with total votes of 61.
Damian Shekarau got 10 votes from Mikang, Wase 0, Langtang South 1, Langtang North 1, Quan-Pan 4, and Shendam 0, totaling 16.
Governor Lalong, who casted his vote during the bye-election at Shendam on Thursday, assured of the party’s commitment to rally round whoever wins at the polls, “to ensure that we retain our seat.
“We are very optimistic of victory, as our party remains the dominant party in this Senatorial District with records of performance,” he noted.
He expressed hope that those, who do not emerge victorious, will support the winner and work for the party.
He commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of delegates and party officials, describing it as the display of democratic maturity, while reaffirming that, “We have been preparing for these primaries as one united family to ensure that we produce the best candidate that will fly the flag of the APC at the main elections.”
