Southern Kaduna People’s Union, SOKAPU, has said Kaduna state government has not made any support to the victims of southern Kaduna attacks by way of assistance in paying the hospital bills of the injured or relief materials for internally-displaced persons as a result of the attacks and killings in southern Kaduna.
The spokesman of the Union, Mr. Luka Binniyat, made the revelations weekend, when the Southern/Middle-Belt Forum leaders visited internally-displaced persons, IDPs, with relief materials in Gonin Gora, Kaduna state.
He said SOKAPU has no knowledge of Kaduna state government’s financial support, both in Kafanchan local government hospitals and Barao Diko Specialist Hospital in Kaduna metropolis, where injured victims’ medical bills have risen to N250,000.
He also lamented that, aside relief materials from National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, through the State branch, Kaduna state has not donated any relief materials to thousands displaced as a result of the attacks and killings in southern Kaduna, to their knowledge.
He however commended individuals and nongovernmental organizations, NGOs, who have been doing wonderfully well for the IDPs in camps across the state, and hospital doctors for the victims of the southern Kaduna attacks with bullet injuries.
Earlier, the camps director in Gonin Gora, Rev. Kanu Bulus, had stated that IDPs consumed three bags of Gari – drinking with water – before he could return from market where he went to buy ingredients to cook for them.
When contacted, the two media aides to governor el-Rufai, Muyiwa Adeleye and Ibrahim Musa, could not respond.
