The Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Shehu Bala Usman, has commended the management of the Jos Central Mosque for putting all measures in place in line with the COVID-19 safety protocol.
The chairman made the commendation, while observing Juma’at prayer at the Jos Central Mosque as part of the council’s enlightenment and sensitization in Jos.
While making his commendation, Shehu Usman stated that, “There is the need for citizens to change for the good of all, because the issue of COVID-19 safety protocol is a primary responsibility of all citizens, and there is the need to adhere to the guidelines of medical professionals and government’s directives to curb the spread of the disease.”
Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, through Secretary to the Government of the state, Professor Danladi Atu, had earlier directed all religious institutions to adhere strictly to the safety protocol on COVID-19, in order to mitigate the spread of the disease.
Following that directive, management committee chairman of Jos North local government, Shehu Bala Usman, said he was impressed with the adherence to social distancing at the mosque, availability of water dispensers at all points and the use of sanitizers at the mosque.
The committee chairman revealed that, the council has concluded arrangement to observe Juma’at prayers and Sunday services every Friday and Sunday, while urging other Mosques to follow the footsteps of the Jos Central Mosque to contain the spread of the disease and save lives.
Speaking also, Chief Imam of Jos Central Mosque, Sheikh Lawal Adams, prayed for Allah’s mercy to overcome the spread of COVID-19, noting that all mosques should join hands with government to contain the spread of the disease.
He admonished citizens to take the use of face-masks, washing of hands and application of sanitizers serious so as to overcome the challenges.
