The residential place of Senator Shehu Sani in the suburb area of Ungwan Sarki, in Kaduna North local government area of Kaduna state, was on Sunday allegedly quarantined, following the sudden dead of a philanthropist and business mogul, Alhaji Shehu Usman, suspected to be victim of Covid-19 pandemic.
Our correspondent gathered that, an armed Police detachment took over roads leading to the area, also occupied by several other notable personalities, to prevent unnecessary movement to contain suspended spread.
Senator Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Zone in the 8th National Assembly and other notable personalities’ areas, came under the control of the Police team owing to the death of the Covid-19 suspect.
Eyewitness account revealed that the detachment of Police arrived the location and took over control of the residents immediately after news of the death of the business mogul rented the air.
People and passersby using the road began to avoid it due to the presence of the fierce-looking security men, who blocked the residence of the deceased, whose body was deposited at Saint Gerard’s Catholic Hospital.
Residences located near the deceased house and, who were affected by the presence of armed Police in the area, include former chairman of First Bank Plc, Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, the chairman of Dialogue Computers Organisation, Alhaji Shehu Mahdi of Mallam Garba foundation, MGF, respectively, as well as former PDP Senatorial Candidate in Sokoto State, Alhaji Mahe Dange, among others.
Speaking, Senator Sani, who spoke in the presence of the armed Police in the area, said “We were surprised to wake up and find out that the Police have sealed up the house of a neighbour and the street, after the owner of the residence died.
“Apparently, it is as if everyone on the street is on quarantine. The police are still there at the frontage of the deceased house and on the street, Ahman Pategi Road by Muazu Abbas Road, Ungwar Sarki Kaduna.”
When journalists visited the residence of the late Alhaji Usman, the fierce-looking security men and their vehicles were found blocking the main entrance to the house.
Some of the neighbours also spoke that, “The deceased’s body is still at the Saint Gerard’s Hospital Kaduna, and it has not yet been released to the family for burial.”
They added that, “Alhaji Usman, who is a philanthropic business man, recently organised a get-together party in the house for friends.”
When contacted, the Kaduna Police Command spokesman, ASP Muhammad Jalige, said “I have not got the report on the issue; although, the DPO of the area called me on phone, while I was praying. I missed his call.”
The police public relations officer, PPRO, who promised to call back, however, never did.
Also, when the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of Saint Gerard’s Catholic Hospital, Sunday Ali, was contacted by journalist, on phone to react to the death of Alhaji Usman, as a result of COVID-19 complications, he said: “Let us talk later, please.”
