Following the discovery of a staff with Covid-19 positive in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, the Speaker, Alhaji Yusuf Zailani, has directed that the entire workforce of the Assembly to submit themselves for coronavirus tests. The staff found with the epidemic is from the office of the clerk.
Speaking with journalists on the issue, Deputy Chairman of House Committee on Health, Mr Ali Kalat, said the staff of the House are directed to submit themselves for a compulsory coronavirus test so as to ascertain their health.
Kalat, who is a member representing Jama’a Constituency, said none of the lawmakers has undergone the corona test, but they will all submit themselves to it with time.
“But, going forward, we have to surrender ourselves for testing so that we will be sure that the entire members of the Assembly and its entire workforce are Convid-19 negative.
“The speaker has given directives that the entire work force of the Assembly should be subjected to coronavirus tests, and the exercise is still going on at the Assembly,” he noted.
According to him, “The House has not resumed, but due to some insurgencies we have to open the House and, after the exercise, we have to close and wait for further directives from the executive.”
