Wife of the Nasrawa state governor, Hajiya Salifat Abdullahi Sule, has distributed food items to the less-privileged in the state.
This was part of her efforts to curtail the hardship confronting vulnerable persons as a result of coronavirus pandemic (COVID 19). The items, worth millions of naira were distributed to people, who can’t feed their families, following the lockdown.
Flagging-off the distribution exercise in Lafia, recently, Hajiya Salifat said “The gesture was to assist vulnerable and people living with disabilities in the society to ameliorate their suffering.”
According to her, “The wives of 19 Northern Governor’s Forum deem it necessary to come to the aid of our people, especially vulnerable and people living with disabilities in all our states.”
She noted that, “We are considering the challenge they are passing through, following the lockdown to avoid contact and spread of covid-19 across the country.”
She urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the foodstuff donated to them to better the lives of their immediate families.
The governor’s wife called on both Muslims and Christians to come together and offer special prayers to end this pandemic, which cripples the world economic and day-to-day activities.
She advised people to abide by the culture of hand washing, use of face-masks and observe social distancing with a view to containing the spread of the disease.
Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke to our correspondent, expressed gratitude to Hajiya Salifat for coming to their rescue, and promised to use the foodstuffs donated to them to feed their families, just as they promised to continue to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdullahi Sule to succeed.
