A Kaduna-based nongovernmental organisation, ‘Global Peace Foundation, Nigeria,’ headed by Sheikh Haliru Maraya and Reverend Joseph Hayab, on Wednesday donated some facemasks and hand sanitizers to journalists as part of measures to curb contract and spread of coronavirus.
Both religious clerics noted that since journalists are always in forefront of creating awareness about the pandemic, they needed to be protected in all ramifications.
“We decided to visit NUJ Kaduna State Council to donate hands sanitizers, face masks to protect them against coronavirus.
“We decided to do this because your job is very risky and, as well, you have to save lives by creating awareness through your reportage. We also donated same materials to Nigeria Civil Defense Corp members.
“We are looking forward to the day the medical experts all over the world will declare the pandemic finished.”
Responding, the NUJ chairman, Adamu Yusuf, expressed gratitude to the officials of the foundation.
Yusuf noted that the items donated will go a long way to help his members go about their normal duties in the heat of the coronavirus crisis.
