Gombe State Government has dished out relief materials worth millions of naira to persons affected by communal clashes in Shongom Local Government Area of the State.

While reassuring of government’s commitment to peaceful coexistence of all citizens, he registered Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s condolences to families of those, who lost their loved ones, during the unfortunate incident and appealed to the people to always employ dialogue in addressing disagreements.
According to the SSG, “Virtually all the tribes and communities in the area have coexisted peacefully for centuries and got related by either marriage or long time friendship, and there is the need for people to embrace peace for development of the state and country.”

He commended the Mai Kaltungo for his role in restoring peace among the warring communities and his consistent work to ensure peaceful coexistence in the chiefdom.
The SSG assured residents of Gombe State of Governor Inuwa Yahaya administration’s resolve to respect and protect the lives and property of law-abiding citizens at all times.
Responding, the Mai Kaltungo appreciated the State Government for its timely intervention to stem the crisis, provision of emergency relief materials, and assured that he will continue to preach peace which is necessary for development.
Leader of Fulani Community in Kaltungo Chiefdom, Alhaji Badikko, who is the Garkuwan Fulanin Kaltungo, commended the Mai Kaltungo for his fatherly care to all residents of the area, and appreciated the State Government for providing the relief materials to cushion the sufferings of the affected persons.
Speaking earlier, the Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Abdullahi Haruna, explained that, “Following the directive of Governor Yahaya immediately after the incident, the agency undertook an assessment of the destruction,” and recommended for the items presented, which include food, non-food materials and cash.
In a similarly development, the SSG has on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and people of the state commiserated with the Mai Kaltungo and the people of Dogon-Ruwa Community over the recent flood that destroyed properties and farmlands, and assured that effort is being intensified by government to provide relief materials and support to the affected families.
