Nigeria’s former National Chairman of Northern Christians Elders’ Forum (NCNCEF), Evang. Matthew Owojaiye, popularly addressed as “Avang. Owojaiye,” has expressed lamentation over the sympathetic condition of Nigerians, saying the task of rescuing the country must be done now.
Evangelist Owojaiye of the Food for Total Man Ministry, based in Kaduna, cautioned against asking Nigerians to shed more weight, adding that the masses are already so skinny and do not have any(more) weight to lose.
The fearless former Christian leader, who made the assertions in his facebook social media handle, posted Friday, urged President Ahmed Bola Tinubu-led Government to suspend or waive duties or taxes on petroleum products to make marketers bring down the threatened price of N700/l on petrol.
“To rescue Nigeria is a task that must be done! Do not tell the masses to shed weight. They are already so skinny; they do not have any weight to lose.
“Government must suspend or waive duties or taxes on petroleum products to make marketers bring down the threatened price of N700/l on petrol.
“All governors and president should surrender their wages, allowances, etc., for one year. They will not die. All Lawmakers should be paid on part-time basis.
“No full salary, no sitting or housing allowances for one year. All personal Assistants should be trimmed down by 50%. Custom duty on essential goods should come down by 50%.
“All tertiary students should be given grants of N100,000 per year for text books and pocket money. All duties on fertilizer should be stopped. Interest rate should be made maximum of 10% P.A.
“All taxes on private educational institutions should be abolished. You will do well to let it fly on your medium,” he stated.
