…Community deserted.
by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The (go-ahead) demolition of Gbagyi Villa (in Chikun LGA Kaduna State) has seen dozens of people, mostly youths, so far being shot and seriously injured by the fully-armed security operatives deployed to the scene of el-Rufai-led Kaduna agency (KASUPDA) in the ongoing demolition exercise in the area.
Some of those shot are said to be at the point of death, following bullet injuries sustained Friday morning when the agency, KASUPDA, invaded the area for the demolition of the area over alleged ‘encroachment.’
Our correspondent, who was a star witness, reported that about 20 buildings have so far been affected. Most of the buildings affected are, however, those closely erected and built near to the wall fencing Kaduna Polytechnic at the Gbagyi Villa side of the community.
Gunshots and tear gas continued to rent the air, making it difficult to get close to the government agency by the people attempting to resist the demolition.
The communities are still in restless situation, as the demolition was still ongoing at the time of filing this report and it was hard to get anyone to speak. But there are threats to burn down the Kaduna Polytechnic in throw-away conversion among the communities.
