The People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s Governor-elect in Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, has received his Certificate of Return alongside his Deputy-elect, Hon. Josephine Piyo, at the INEC office in Jos, Plateau State.
In the same vein, the 24 Members of the State House of Assembly-elect were also presented with their Certificates of Return, which include 16 members of House Assembly for PDP, while APC has 7 and PRP with one.
Speaking earlier on Thursday in Jos before the presentation of the Certificates, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Plateau State, Dr. Oliver Tersoo Agundu, said “The event was possible of the hard work, sacrifices and commitment of many people because of the tireless commitment of their indefatigable INEC staffs, both tenured and Ad-Hoc, who endured all situations to deliver this moment.”
He asserted that, as promised, he had delivered their promise to the good people of Plateau State and were at the event to hand over the baton of accountability and responsibility to the winners of the transparent electoral process.
He said “The event inaugurates a new chapter that beckons on all of you, who received your Certificates of Return today, and to also fulfill your promises to the people.”
The Resident Electoral Commissioner further explained that, they promised a fair, transparent, credible and inclusive election, and challenge the Governor-elect and Deputy Governor-elect as well as Members of the State House of Assembly to also deliver on their promise to the hospitable, lovable and good people of Plateau, as they assumed their respective positions.
Responding, the Governor-elect, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang appreciated the people of Plateau, especially the youths and those who stood firm to make it possible, and commended INEC and all Security Agencies, who stood there to see that the election was transparent.
He assured Plateau citizens that, despite religious differences and tribe, he will carry everybody along, and promised to bring Plateau State back to “Home of Peace and Tourism” from its lost glory, adding that, nobody can stand their way because God is there to fight for them.
While commending Dr. Patrick Dakum the Governorship candidate of the Labor Party for congratulating him, Barr. Mutfwang appealed to Dr. Nentawe Yilwada (the APC Governorship candidate) and Governor Simon Lalong to join hands with him and work together to move Plateau forward, because the State is bigger than them.
