Governor-elect, Uba Sani

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani, has been declared winner of the 2023 governorship election in the state.

The state returning officer, Prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis, declared Sen. Uba Sani winner, with total votes of 730,002 to defeat his PDP opponent, Isa Ashiru, who scored 719,196 votes.

Hon. Jonathan Asake of the Labour Party won 58,283, votes while Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi of the NNPP scored 21, 405 to emerge third and fourth positions, respectively.

Bilbis declared rejected votes of 19,114. The Governor-elect, Uba Sani, is the senator representing Kaduna Central at the upper chamber of Nigeria’s National Assembly.

Senator Sani was also a political adviser to the incumbent Governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai in his first tenure.

There were, however, allegations of ‘irregularities’ raised by the PDP officials against the process of elections that saw the emergence of Uba before he was declared winner.
