Tiv people decry killings in Akpananja airstrike in Nasarawa State

by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Chairman of  ‘Ate U Keana,’ a social cultural group in Keana local government area of Nasarawa State, Sir Thomas Orbam, has cried out to Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, to intervene over the continued killing of innocent Tiv sons and daughters by Fulani warlords in Keana, after the Akpanaja airstrike.

The helmsman of the Union says that the aftermath of the bombing has so far claimed about 20 lives, while over 20 other people are left in critical conditions from gunshots, as most houses were also raised down as all Tiv settlements in Keana surroundings were ransacked.

He explained that three casualties were recorded when the duo attacked a funeral ceremony in Ajo community, with one beheaded.

“The following day, Kuduku 1 was besieged as Daniel Ugwu Ashue Ugar and many others killed. Kuduku 2 was taken over early last week by the miscreants, and before the Army from Giza could intervene, one Tachia Njoho was killed, while others suffered various degrees of injuries,” he stated.

He further explained that the marauders again attacked Gidan Sule, leaving behind many souls dead.

He observed that the Tiv people in Nasarawa State have been coexisting with the Alago, Gwandara and other tribes for time immemorial without problem but wondered why the coming of Fulani in the zone has changed the scenario.

Accordingly, he observed that the attack had only centered on the Tiv extraction, showing clearly a sign of conspiracy of ethnic cleansing of the Tiv Nation in the state.

Sir Orbam lamented that, “It’s quite unfortunate that this evil act has persisted to be inflicting on the Tiv people, especially in Keana LGA,” and prayed that the souls of all those killed rest in peace.
