Igbo Day: Channels TV reporter, other Igbo sons bag Chieftaincy Awards

Chimazie Enyioch, Channels TV Kaduna correspondent, with “Award of Excellence in Public Service” in Kaduna.

The Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA), Kaduna State, has conferred chieftaincy titles on her deserving prominent sons and daughter in Kaduna, one among them is the Kaduna Correspondent of the Channels Television, Mr Chimazie Enyiocha.

Mr. Enyiocha was presented with an Award of Excellence in Public Service in recognition of his contribution to societal development and selfless service to humanity.

The conferment of the award was administered by the Eze-Igbo Kaduna and his subordinates during a colourful ceremony marking annual Igbo Day celebration held at Prison Staff College, Barnawa, Kaduna on weekend.

The Channels Television correspondent who was accompanied by a large number of his colleague journalists, his Keens men, friends and well wishers received the award with in   his regalia with happiness and jubilation.

Speaking to his colleagues after collecting the award and his acceptance speech, Chief Enyiocha thanked the Igbo Community for the seeming respect for seeing him worthy for such prestigious title and award of honour.

“I’m grateful and happy; I wasn’t expecting all these, but since you have so much trust in me to award me this title, I accept it wholeheartedly,” he said.

He said the award will spur him to do more in terms of his service to societal development and to humanity, and also thanked the Igbo Community Association Kaduna for considering him worthy of the prestigious award.

The event, which was officially supported by Star Larger Beer, had in attendance highly influential personalities of Igbo extraction, including chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Khemsafe Computers & Communication Technology, Dr. David Obiora, among other personalities from Kaduna town and environs.

Others special guests include gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Hon. Ashiru Kudan, and that of APC, Senator Uba Sani, who was represented, and more.

Cultural troupes of different categories, varieties of food and drinks, locally brewed brands of drinks were available in different locations at the venue, to add glamour to the event.

Igbo Cultural Day celebration is an annual event marked by sons and daughters of Igbo extractions here in Kaduna State; it was also a memorable occasion this year, despite the economic woes being faced by citizens of the country.
