The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Zone D North Central has expressed shock over and the saddened barbaric act of gang assault on a young lady, one Blessing Mathias, in Lafia over the weekend.

A statement was signed and issued to NAWOJ in the zone by the Vice President NAWOJ Zone D, Jamila Abubakar, and Secretary Leah Thomas.

The statement averred that, eyewitness revealed that, the assault was as a result of misunderstanding between two ladies over a boyfriend where the other lady, Emmanuella, mobilized her father and brothers to beat up the victim, Blessing Mathias.

The Vice President condemned this act in its entirety and commended the Nigerian Police Force, Nasarawa State Command, for the prompt arrest of four suspects in connection with the assault.

“While investigation is ongoing, this act must not be swept under the carpet; anyone found wanting should be made to face the full weight of the law,” the statement added.
