Transporters, motorists and owners of cows, food and other perishable items are counting their loses, following heavy gridlock caused by flood in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
As at last count, over ten dying cattle have already been reportedly slaughtered after spending many days in the gridlock.
Eyewitness said many vehicles carrying essential goods to the Southern and Northern parts of the country that got trapped in the flood were seriously affected.
“There are many dead animals and decay of perishable food items as they have been stacked in the gridlock for over 5 days,” eyewitness stated.
The incident occurred around Katam Karifi – about twenty kilometers from Kogi State capital – where some trucks and tankers transporting PMS were also stacked in the flood with the goods inside them.
