JOS – Following persistent attacks in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, a new Divisional Police Headquarters has been opened in the area.
This is in his bid for the Police to continue to fight crime and criminality within the nation that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has approved the opening of a new Divisional Police Headquarters in Bashar, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
At the opening ceremony, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Bartholomew N. Onyeka, disclosed that, the opening of the new Police Divisional Headquarters is in response to the incessant crime and criminality within that part of the local government.
While urging the community to give the DPO and Police Officers posted to the Division all necessary support, CP Onyeka stated that, they need to also give timely and useful information to the Police at all times, and assured that patrol vehicles that have been provided by members of the community will be put to proper use.
He affirmed that, he will do everything in his power to ensure that all Police Stations and Police Posts that have been closed will be reopened, as this will ensure proper security coverage around the State.
The CP admonished members of the public to always have it in mind that security is everybody’s business and, that, they should always be security-conscious, as they go about their lawful businesses.
This development came on the hills of a recent attack on Danda Chugwi Village of Vwang, in Jos South Local Government, where some persons were reportedly killed and others injured.
While describing incident as “callous and condemnable,” Governor Lalong in reaction directed security forces to ensure that those behind the attack are apprehended and punished according to the laws of the land.
“The action of the attackers is yet another desperation by crises merchants to instigate disharmony, suspicion, fear and orchestrate agony among the people leading to further violence.
“Security agencies, including the Police, Operation Safe Haven, DSS, and Operation Rainbow have been tasked to work with the local intelligence and ensure that those behind this wicked act are fished out,” the governor stated.
While sympathizing with families of those killed and injured, Lalong directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Peace Building Agency to visit the area and ensure that succor is given to those affected and the community.
