APC urges Nigerians to register for PVC; commends INEC for extension

by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Following the extension of registration of the Permanent Voters Card (PVC), APC Mobilization Association of Nigeria has called on all eligible Nigerians to visit INEC registration centres to collect their voters’ cards.

The commendation, contained in a statement signed by National Secretary of the Association, Alhaji Lawal A. Dogara, and made available to newsmen in Kaduna Monday, emphasized on the call on members to make optimum utilization of the opportunity.

He said “Registration and collection of the voters’ cards would enable them vote wisely for all the APC candidates in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections,” and commended INEC for making adequate arrangement to ensure smooth and transparent PVC registration, among others.

Alh. Dogara also commended the APC-led administration for its developmental activities in Nigeria, adding that, “The National Secretary, APC administration has set the pace in the present dispensation in governance through the execution of projects across the country.”

He appealed to the members of APC to remain united and to give all needed support to APC leadership with a view to ensuring the victory of the party, come February, 2023.

This development, nevertheless, came under the hills of APC’s previous calls (among teeming Nigerians) for extension of the Voters’ Registration exercise, as well as additional centres, saying, “Doing so would ease difficulties that were being faced by the eligible voters”.

Zonal Publicity Secretary, North West of APC, Musa Mailafiya Mada, had earlier called for the extension so as to stem the mad-rush by eligible voters to get registered ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Musa Mada, who made the call, while addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Friday, explained that “Thousands of eligible voters might be disenfranchised as they could not beat the deadline,” urging that, INEC should look inward and extend the exercise deadline.

Said he, “We want to call on INEC to look inward and extend the exercise so that people will get their PVCs. INEC should know that, the whole exercise is about people. So, it will not be unfair to disenfranchise them.”
