Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has given some palliatives in form of cash as a way of supporting the needs of labourers, as part of his Ramadan Fasting month succor, in Damaturu.
The payment and disbursement was performed by Babagana Alhaji Modu Bature Goniri and Alhaji Hassan Shettima, who said more than 50,000 different association members benefitted from the philanthropic act.
Speaking to journalists at the event, one of the beneficiaries, who gave his name as Malam Abdullahi, thanked the governor for the support, saying, “We are indeed grateful for this gesture in the holy month of fasting. Each of us received the sum of N20,000. This will go a long way in alleviating our sufferings.”
He further commended Governor Buni’s delegation for the fairness, saying, “They represented him adequately; they have been very open and transparent in the sharing we were given, irrespective of any differences. We pray God to reward him abundantly.”
On a similar note, chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Shehu Bala Usman, has urged Muslim faithful to use the month of Raman to pray for unity, peace and progress of the nation.
According to him, “Raman is a period of showing love to one another.” This was his message as Muslims the world over commenced the 40-day Ramadan fast.
He challenged Muslims to reflect on the lesson learned from Prophet Muhammad that shows love to mankind.
“This is a period of forgiveness, prayers, sharing love to the needy,” he said, and reminded Muslims to rededicate themselves to Allah for his mercies upon Nigeria.
The LGC chairman then sued for continuous collaboration and mutual understanding between Christians and Muslims, in order to achieve the desires of his administration.
