Senator Dimka to contest for Governorship Seat of Plateau State

by Christiana Gokyo, Jos

The Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, Hezekiah Ayuba Dimka, has declared his interest to contest for Governorship Seat of Plateau State in the 2023 general elections.

Senator Dimka, who was former Police Commissioner and Chairman Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics, is nursing his ambition of becoming the Number-One citizen of the state under the platform of ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made the declaration on Tuesday at the APC Secretariat Kabwir Pada ward in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Our correspondent gathered that, Pada Kabwir ward was the same ward that produced first Senator Malakayas Bawa during the First Republic and first House of Representatives Member, Baba David Dimka, respectively.

Sen. Dimka said, he was given the mandate to represent Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, adding, “The experience is in many respects a school for me, as I am convinced beyond any doubt that I am prepared to take higher tasks in the next general election.”

He stated that, he is aware that his motivation to take on a higher challenge is borne out of many years of service to his fatherland in different capacities, adding that, those years of service in government and in politics have prepared him well enough to take on new challenges.

He assured the people of his readiness to build on the foundation that has been laid by administrations in the state, if given the mandate to serve.

Sen. Dimka stated that, “With 35 years’ experience of service as former Police Commissioner, I make bold to state my motivation and commitment to cause a different intervention in securing of our communities and return peace to our people. We need each other to live; we must endeavor to dialogue and build trust between and amongst the people of the state.”

In their reactions, the district head of Kabwir, HRH Nde Dominic Gofwen; Chairman Kanke LGA, Hon. Henry Gotip; Kanke APC Chairman, William Gombwer, as well as APC Chairman of Pada Kabwir ward, Sunday Nenman, all assured support for Dimka.

However, our correspondent gathered that Senator Hezekiah Dimka is now joined with over 20 APC governorship aspirants, who are jostling for the ticket, which will be intensified in the upcoming party primaries, and is the second to declare his interest from the APC. The first was Sunday Garba Biggs, from Mangu local government area of the state.
