Presidential Visit: Kaduna shuts down as Buhari commissions projects

by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

President Muhammadu Buhari

Major towns and cities in the three senatorial zones of Kaduna State were on Thursday shutdown during Presidential visit for the official commissioning of the Urban Renewal Infrastructural Development projects performed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Commercial activities, especially roadside markets in Kaduna, Kafanchan and Zaria main towns were paralysed and frustrated; many were completely obstructed and even grounded due to the statewide commissioning ceremony.

Security operatives, including army, police and other security personnel, were deployed to all nooks and cranny in Kaduna, Zaria and Kafanchan main towns to man the areas to ensure peaceful and effective commissioning ceremony.

Commercial bus town services were also scanty and people stranded because of the presence of stern-looking uniform men locking around the streets.

Police security helicopter was on surveillance patrol in Kaduna metropolis throughout the period, thereby causing scares among innocent citizens going about for legitimate earnings.

The uniformed security men were also strategically positioned in all the roundabouts along Ahmadu Bello Way, but no civilian was reportedly molested or harassed by any security to the knowledge of the media.
