“Majority of our leaders today has forgotten the virtues and values of the late Premier of Northern Region and Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, and need to be reminded.”
This assertion was made by chairman Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Kaduna, Comrade Umar Adamu Sariki Fada.
Comrade Adamu Sariki Fada made the remarks, in an interview at the end of the ceremony commemorating the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, held at Arewa House Kaduna at weekend, when he noted that, there was need to remind today’s leaders what the late Premier of Northern Region was standing for.
The chairman FRCN NUJ Kaduna and organizer of the event said the core essence was to commemorate the late Sarduna of Sokoto of the good virtues and values of life he lived and exhibited, while he was alive.
“He had lived life where he instilled and displayed unity and good leadership in his time. He had a very unique style of leadership during his time of bringing the lowest people in the society to be made relevant.
“He regarded everybody as valuable and useful. He did not discriminate in anyway, anywhere, even in terms of religion, tribe or ethnic differences. Everybody in the north was treated and seen as equal, irrespective of their religious faith, be it Muslims or Christians, whether Hausa, Fulani, Kataf or others,” he said.
Sariki Fada also stated that the late Premier of Northern Region’s “slogan is that all of us are northerners,” adding that, “these are some of the things region needed now, to remind our leaders of today.
“Even though, there are few good ones, majority of leaders today have forgotten the virtues and values of the late Premier of Northern Region and need to be reminded,” he stated.
The Vice President and several other personalities were present and represented at the occasion held at Arewa House auditorium.
