PLATEAU STATE – As the Muslim Ummah all over the world is celebrating this year’s Eid-El-Kabir Sallah, Senator Istifanus D. Gyang wishes them a joyous and peaceful celebration.
According to him, Eid-El-Kabir replicates Abraham’s total submission and obedience to the will of God even to the point of willing to sacrifice his son. As Abraham passed the test of obedience, God provided a ram for the sacrifice to show his aversion to shedding human blood.
Senator Gyang prays that the lessons of the obedience and sacrifice of Abraham, which established the sanctity of human life, will continue to resonate within the Muslim faithful worldwide.
He admonishes Muslim in the state, especially in his constituents, to observe the protocols of COVID-19 and stay safe, and wishes them a Happy Eid-El Kabir Sallah celebration.
In the same vein, the Managements Committee chairman of Jos North Local Government, Shehu Bala Usman, has called on the Muslim faithful to emulate the virtuous life of total obedience, love, peace, togetherness, justice and self- sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
The chairman in a statement urged the Muslim Ummah to use the occasion to extend hands of support and show of love and good neighborliness as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim and upheld by Prophet Muhammad.
According to him, Eid-el-Kabir is a period for renewing the spirit of compassion to fellow man and sacrifice in the service of humanity.
While admonishing Muslims in the area to continue to reflect on the significance of the celebration, which he said “bordered on encouraging piety, sacrifice and love,” Sen Gyang noted that without love, no state or society could advance well.
He urged them to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country, and assured of a peaceful celebration in Jos North as the Local Government Area.
The chairman said, his administration has made arrangements with security agencies to ensure that all citizens celebrate the Sallah in peace and harmony, and wished the Muslim Ummah a Happy Eid-el-kabir celebration.
