Election of chairmen for Plateau’s 17 LGAs fixed for October

The election of chairmen into offices of the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State has been fixed for October 2021.

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) Chairman, Mr. Fabian Ntung, disclosed this, while addressing newsmen in Jos, when he said the State is set to conduct local government elections in its 17 local government councils.

He stated that, the guidelines were released on Tuesday, and shall be adhered to by registered Political Parties intending to field candidates for the forthcoming elections into the local government Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in the state.

According to him, elections are scheduled to hold on Saturday, 9th October, 2021, in accordance with the law establishing the commission and the time table for the conduct of the elections.

The guidelines require all political parties to obtain Nomination Forms from (PLASIEC) headquarters at No.7 John Mark Samci Road Jos, from Monday 14th June, 2021, to Saturday, 19th June, 2021, between 8.00am and 4.00pm.

All forms should be completed and returned to the commission by the political parties not later than Wednesday, 23rd June, 2021.

Also, the guidelines stated that, all political parties shall pay a non-refundable fee of N1,000.000.00 only for Chairmanship, N750,000.00 only for Deputy Chairman and N500,000.00 only for Councillorship for any nominations form issued.

It also stated that, political parties would pay a non-refundable administrative charges on the nomination process for each of their candidates, namely, Chairmanship N250,000.00, Deputy Chairman N150,000.00, while Councillorship is N100,000.00 only.
