Journalists on the Plateau commended “partners in progress” with Govt

by Christiana Gokyo, Jos

The Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Dan Manjang, has said, Governor Simon Lalong is determined to commission the ongoing remodeling project of the State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Plateau State Council in Jos.

He was speaking when he took an on-the-spot assessment of the project, alongside Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Simon Lalong, Dr. Makut Simon Macham.

While affirming that “The structure is about 85% completion,” Hon. Dan Manjang added that, “The work is in progress, and we are happy as a government and professionals in this field, and we are highly elated that this government has come to rescue this NUJ Secretariat.

“The finishing is good, the quality of work is good and the architectural design is done in conjunction with the NUJ. I want to believe and this is what they want I think,” he noted.

The Commissioner said, “We are looking forward for a day that the structure is going to be completed, and hope that the governor will be available to commission it before it will be put to use.”

He commended journalists on the Plateau for having done a lot in promoting the State Government “because we are partners in progress. We have not complained about what they do in the course of their duties; they have cooperated with us.”

Speaking also, the (State Council) NUJ Chairman, Mr Paul Jatau, represented by his Vice Chairman, Mrs. Ayuku Pwaspo, described the visit as being impromptu,
saying the council is delighted with the visit because it shows that government is committed to see to the completion of the work.

“We are hopeful that in the nearest future, may be, by next month this project will be completed. For us as NUJ, this is strategic because it would give us more pride as we do our work perfectly for the good of Plateau State,” he noted.

According to him, the NUJ is satisfied with the level of work done, except for the landscaping, which he pleaded with government to consider and do the needful because without landscaping, the structure would look somehow.
