Senator Istifanus D. Gyang of Plateau North Senatorial District has commended the Director-General of Nigerian College of Accountancy, Miango, Dr. Kayode Fasua, his management team and, indeed ANAN, for investing in human capital development and building the capacity of professionals in the accounting profession, not only for Nigeria but other African countries, whose nationals are products of the college.
The Senator was at the college on an official visit as part of his desire to build and strengthen strategic relationship with both public and private institutions located in Plateau North.
He commended ANAN, the proprietors of the college for attaining another milestone in securing NUC approval for the establishment and the take-off of ANAN University to be sited in the same location; thus, enlarging the frontiers for education and learning.
He observed with joy that the new university will open up and expand academic, socio-economic and employment opportunities, among others, which will positively impact on Plateau North and the nation at large.
The Senator took note of the corporate social responsibility activities of the college and admonished the management to expand the scope of their engagement to further strengthen ties with the host communities, which have been very accommodating and friendly.
He said building and sustaining a symbiotic and mutually-beneficial relationship between the college and host communities was necessary, and called on Plateau State Government to make haste and complete the construction of the Miango/Kwall/Vom Road.
In his response, the DG of the college, Dr. Kayode Fasua, expressed delight on the visit by the Senator and stated that it was the first of its kind in the 40 years’ history of the college.
He traced the history of the college and how, through it, ANAN has become the leading and dominant platform for the training of professional accountants.
He assured the Senator that they will improve on their Corporate Social Responsibility and ensure that their host communities are better impacted, and solicited for the Senator’s legislative input in areas that would help the institution achieve its goals.
Hon. Musa Agah, who is Member representing Rukuba/Irigwe at the State Assembly, and staffs of the People’s Parliament, were part of the Senator’s entourage.
