by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

A total of eight members of the Evangelism team of the Redeemed Christian Church Trinity Sanctuary, Kaduna, have been allegedly kidnapped.

Eye witness account said they were kidnapped in the evening of Friday on their way for evangelism in Southern Kaduna when the incident occurred. The abductors have allegedly placed N50 million as ransom before they’re released, according to unofficial reports teaching our reporter.

Contacted, Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesman, Mohammed Jalige, could not respond. A statement from eyewitness source and Vectra driver made available to journalists, however, stated that himself narrowly escaped the kidnappers.

The statement, read in parts: “Eight members of the Evangelism team of the Redeemed Christian Church Trinity Sanctuary, Kaduna, have been kidnapped this evening on their way to evangelism in Southern Kaduna. They were kidnapped after passing Kachia.

“My contact called to tell me about the kidnap. He was told by an eye witness, who is a Vectra driver in his neighbourhood, who said that he narrowly escaped the kidnappers, but the evangelism bus from the Redeem Church must have been apprehended because they were following him.

“To confirm the story, shortly after my contact called me, a sister, who is a member of the Middle-Belt Prayer Group, called to inform me that members of her church, (the Redeemed Christian Church) were kidnapped this evening on their way to southern Kaduna. So, let us commit them to God in prayers for their fast release. Pray that God intervenes in His own way,” it stated.
