Over N27 million has so far been spent for the procurement of refrigerators for the storage of 1,900 doses of Pfizer vaccines that would be allocated to Bauchi state by the federal government.
Chairman of the Primary Health Care Development Agency in Bauchi state, Dr Rilwanu Muhammad, disclosed this in a chat with newsmen in the state recently.
He narrated that, the refrigerators were brought directly by government from the manufacture at the cost of N105 million each and installed at the cost of N750,000.
Dr Muhammad revealed that, the state is ready for COVID-19 vaccines and, that, the refrigerators have the capacity to store 100,000 doses being expected, adding that the state government got the company that has supplied 86 refrigerators.
The chairman explained further that, already two have been installed and are working at 86 centigrade, saying, “the capacity is about 678 litres for each one and also have the capacity to store even the vaccines that are coming into the country.”
“We are ready to collect the vaccines; we don’t have any challenges regarding that, and we urge other states to emulate Bauchi state,” he said.
