About four (4) million people in Bauchi State have been vaccinated in the ongoing Yellow Fever immunization exercise in 19 out of the 20 local government areas of the state.
This was disclosed by Director for Disease Control Immunization of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mrs Louis Daniel, while giving an update of the exercise in the state recently.
According to her, the exercise is targeting over seven (7) million people across the 20 local government areas of the state, adding that, one of the challenges militating against the smooth conduct of the exercise is the non-compliance by adults, as most of the people that are being vaccinated are children, between the ages of 4 and 10 years.
She called on the people to avail themselves the opportunity to get immunized against the disease, considering its benefit to their health, and debunked the rumours making rounds that the immunization vaccine is for COVID-19. She explained further that the COVID-19 vaccine is yet to arrive in the country.
The Yellow Fever immunizations in Bauchi witnessed a low turnout of the target audience of between 9 months and 44 years.
