PLATEAU STATE – The Management Committee chairman of Jos North local government council, Shehu Bala Usman, has expressed the desire of his office to ensure each motor park and market within Jos North has access to toilet facility, in line with the vision of the federal and state governments.
The chairman stated this when he officially handed over toilet facilities to the officials of Plateau Express Services and Bauchi Motor Park in Jos.
The toilet facilities at the Plateau Express Services and Bauchi Motor Park were executed to conform to federal government’s policy aimed at tackling the menace of open defecation in public places as a measure to encourage cleanliness and safe hygiene in the country.
Shehu Usman said the modern toilet facilities provided by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources to Jos North was aimed at ensuring citizens change from their cultural norms of defecating in the public places to ensure practicing sustainable cleanliness and personal hygiene.
The LGC chairman, who was represented by the Supervisory Councilor for Works, Housing and Transport of the Council, Francis Gazu, pointed out that the overall impact of promoting sanitation and hygiene was for the benefit of all.
He advised the officials of the park to ensure proper hygiene of the facilities, in line with the federal government’s fight against open defecation.
Consultant of the project from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abdulmalik Musa, said the project was done according to specifications.
On his part, the Site Engineer, Ibrahim Balogun, said the toilets have all the contemporary facilities, and challenged the officials of the market to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities.
While receiving the facilities on behalf of management of the park, the operation manager of the Plateau Express Services, Gyang Sha, and the chairman Bauchi Motor Park, Ishaku Musa, lauded the Jos North Local Government Management Committee Chairman, Shehu Bala Usman, for ensuring that the Federal Ministry of Water Resources intervention work was done according to specification, and pledged their management readiness to ensure proper hygiene of the facilities.
